Congratulations to Brenna Lin who successfully defended her thesis today on the relationship between self-reported, behavioral, and physiological measures of emotion regulation! We are all very proud of her accomplishment and a celebratory reception will be held tomorrow during the lab meeting.

Dr. Steven visiting Beijing Normal University
Last week Dr. Steven visited one of the top education departments in China: the State Key Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience and Learning. The faculty (Dr. Sha Tao) and many students were extremely welcoming and we had a extremely productive time: two talks, two workshops, and several meetings on ongoing collaborations.

Linda passed R1 exam!
Congratulations to Linda Sun for passing the grueling R1 exam today. Linda will now be certified to use EEG in the data collection for her projects!

Mahati passed dissertation defense
Congratulations to Dr. Kopparla as she passed her dissertation defense in a spectacular fashion. With an army of support (including her parents), a big cake, and a fantastic talk, the committee had no doubt Mahati would be a great force for good.

Labs and center symposium
The NLD brought out some of the big guns at the CEHD Center/Lab poster Symposium. The intention is to facilitate collaboration across centers. Dr Woltering, Mia, and Megan were representing the lab in a dazzling fashion. We learned a lot that day and I hope many others learned a thing or two from us too!

Congratulations Sungyoon Lee
We are proud to report that Sungyoon Lee successfully defended his thesis entitled, ‘The Role of Working Memory in Integrative Reading of Text and Picture: An Eye Tracking Study’ on April 26th. As evidence that his work is resonating in the field, Dr. Lee has been invited to several job talks.

March conference month
With conferences in Maryland (SRCD) and Boston (CNS), the NLD was touring across the USA to disseminate their wisdom.
